Hauser realized it in the course of the solo show titled “1 Split Second” at La Traverse in Marseille - in which the artist makes the total sum of her open bills - 73,630.67 € - her artistic material.

Barclays Card calls her almost every day to check if her financial situation has not been flipped to Millionaire in a day …

The UBD “Karies” stemms from the veterinary bill from Don Orèo, the horse I Sandra Hauser our CEO is collaborating in their project “I Would Prefer Not To”. Don and Sandra have often the same health issues and as psychosomatic tooth problems where for fours years Sandra’s biggest challenge, Don of course, had also caries. Dr. Cheve is Don’s veterinary and extrmely cool and patient when it comes to paying the bill. He is the best veterinary in the region and kind of our sustainer.

The motif of this UBD stems from an abandoned board game our CEO found in an abandoned house, which she dreams about living in together with her horse Don Orèo. Hauser always goes on wanderings during which she finds her precious materials and images she then applies to her unpaid bills. An intriguing mixture of her fragile and continuously overlapping realities.

In Germany the board game “Petits Chevaux” is called “Mensch ärgere dich nicht”. Voilà.

The original “Réserve de Chasse” sign was in the same show as the prototype UBD “Barclay’s Indiana Jones”, so Hauser decided it needs to be on a French letter from SEERIC. A letter from SEERIC gives her the same feeling as walking through a hunting reserve.

Hauser loves to do long walsk in the hillsbehind the terrain where she lives and works. She has to cross a hunting reserve and loves to collect empty rifle cartridges. This UBD is is dedicated to daily walks.

PRA Group bought my credit card loan from Barclays. Our CEO pays this credit in monthly instalments of €10.

She decided not to sell the whole credit, but to draw on every single instalment bill, coming in monthly - to make her work accessible for poor people with lower incomes and give them the chance to collect art.

These UBDs are reserved for persons with an income below the minimum income threshold.

This is probably the most political UBD. A fineliner drawing on the first page of our CEO with her iconic moustache made out of her own hair and the typical writing on her forehead. In this case “bitch” to underline the artist’s wish to always be brave and say her truth. On the second page you can find the sentences that were printed on seven yellow posters and were put up on the streets of Dachau by activist resistance fighters on June 29, 1934.

“UBD 7 - I am so bored” is the monthly bill for the insurance of my business as an artist. My studio, my work risks, the damages I and Don, the horse I work together with, cause while working - all this is insured by the Allianz Group. I am very bored by monthly bills to pay.

The image stems from workers on the streets in Southeast Asia. Persons who work in transporting goods need their colleague, a mule or a donkey, for transportation. In order to bring home enough money to feed their families, they are obliged to load the cart to the limits of what their partner can carry. Often it happens that the cart is too heavy and lifts the animal up in the air. Don’t judge too soon! The donkey and the worker often have a very strong, loving relationship. But the capitalist system forces the worker to go over the top while feeling even sad for his working partner …
